Homeschooling has been the hardest but most rewarding thing I've ever done in my 34 years of life. This week has been very difficult...getting back into the groove after over a month off, trying to figure out what direction we want to go with our studies for the Spring, stressing about the girls academics (will Annagrace ever memorize her multiplication facts? Will Madalyn ever learn how to read?). But sometimes I have small reminders of why we homeschool.
We spent New Year's Eve at First Night Harrisonburg (I'll post more on that later). As we were walking down the street Madalyn spotted these "insert your face here" paintings and immediately said, "Mama! I want to be in The Scream!" Wow. My six year old can recognize an Edvard Munch painting. And not only did she recognize it but she even remembered to imitate the gaping mouth.
My heart was proud. And it was a simple reminder of why we homeschool. My children are learning so much and sometimes I forget that and get hung up in the "textbooks."
Thank you Lord for my intelligent children and their sponge like brains. Thank you for little, simple reminders that this is where I am suppose to be, this is what I am suppose to be doing. Thank you for leading me to do something I never in a million years dreamed I'd be doing. It has blessed my life tremendously.
