I hate arthritis. It absolutely sucks.
And I'm not talking about the "oh it's getting ready to rain my bones ache" arthritis. I'm talking about the debilitating auto-immune kind known as rheumatoid arthritis.
The kind that has crippled and gnarled my moms hands.
The kind that forced her into early retirement.
The kind that makes her bones creak and pop when she moves.
And the kind that led us to the events of Monday. Due to a knee replacement that got infected and would not improve, my mom had to have her leg amputated.
She's been a trooper. She tried to save that leg for over a year and there's just no saving it. She has a long road ahead of her...rehab, a prosthesis, and Lord-willing: learning to walk again. I've been amazed at her strength so far. Not just her physical strength, but her mental strength. She's accepted the reality of it all and is ready to get better and move on with her life.
Please keep her in your prayers. She is a very special lady and I sure do love her!
