I worried for months that Layla was forever going to rely on grunting and pointing to get what she wanted. And then something crazy happened. In the last two weeks her vocabulary has EXPLODED! It's been amazing hearing all the new things she is saying. And not just words but sentences--completely on her own without prompting from us! Some new ones this week:
"Get out of the way!" (said to Madalyn who was sitting in front of the computer screen while Sesame Street was on)
"I want some!" (said anytime anyone is eating or drinking anything)
"I want lunch."
"I love sissy."
And my favorite:
We were in Joann's this week (oh I love that place!) and Layla kept putting her mouth on the cart. I told her three times to please stop and I said, 'That's gross" to which Layla replied, "That's silly!" And then repeated the phrase for the next 30 minutes because every time she said it I laughed!
She's such a sweetie. And she is so smart! All these months of not talking...she's just been sitting back letting it all soak in. Now we can't get her to be quiet and I LOVE it!
