Name: Layla
Nicknames: LaylaBug, Layla J, LJ
Age: 20 months
Favorite foods: puffs (whoever invented those was a genius!), chicken of any kind, pasta, fruit, applesauce. She's feeding herself now and we took out her booster seat/high chair. SNIFF, SNIFF!
Favorite book: Any book with lift-a-flaps. She is particularly drawn to a children's body book that we have. I can put it back on the shelf (in a totally different place) and she will find it and drag it right back down. Maybe she's going to be a doctor one day!
Favorite toys: Anything with Elmo on it, her Little Touch Leap Pad (we keep this in the car and it will entertain her for hours on end)
Funny things she does: Puckers up her lips and makes a "kissy face"; when we are swinging her in the air and count one...two...she will then squeal "teeee!"
Words she says: After being such a reluctant talker, over the last two weeks her vocabulary has exploded! She's copying everything we say now and said her first sentence, "Bye Daddy" last week. She knows lots of animal sounds and her comprehension and ability to follow directions is amazing! She loves to say "Noooo waaaayyyy" to her sisters and has learned the meaning and value of the word "NO!"
Other tidbits:
- She still uses a pacifier at night. Don't judge me.
- She loves baby dolls.
- She is a brave little girl--she loves riding rides at Busch Gardens (even really big ones like Prince Elmo's Spire)!
- She LOVES to go swimming and doesn't mind if her head goes under the water. However, don't try to lay her back in the tub to wash her hair! She hates it!
- She is an outdoor girl and has learned how to open the back door on her own. We have to watch her very closely because in a matter of seconds she'll be outside riding her tricycle or throwing her basketball!
- She loves Sesame Street.
- She is hopelessly addicted to her mommy. I'm trying to enjoy it because all too soon it will pass and I'll be longing for her to come and sit in my lap and give me hugs. She cries hysterically at just the possibility that I may be leaving her. The only person she doesn't cry for is her daddy.
- She is a sweetheart and I can't imagine life without her!
