First of all, there is the sweet man that I call Daddy. I've always been a Daddy's girl. I'll admit that being the baby and the only girl in our family meant that I was a
My dad has never had an enemy. He may lose his temper at times (and if he does...look out!) but he really has a heart of gold. His love for my mama is obvious. He also loves his grandchildren (and if you think I was spoiled...well let me introduce you to Madalyn who, thanks to Papa, has added about 10 new Barbies to her collection this year). He would do anything to help someone out.
He has done home improvement projects for me. He's taught me how to take out and install a toilet, how to put in flooring, how to install a light fixture, how to check my oil (although I never think to do it). He has talked me through repairing a water heater and never grows tired of my calls asking, "Daddy how do you . . . "
He's a great person and a great daddy and I have been blessed to have him as my Daddy for 34 years now!
The other sweet daddy in my life is my hubby. He is such a good daddy! He loves his girls so much. Whenever people ask him if he wants a little boy he always says, "Nope--I'm perfectly happy with my houseful of girls." His firstborn is just like him. His second born thinks he is the bees knees and his baby girl already has him wrapped around her little finger.
He loves playing games with the girls whether it's War, Guitar Hero or even Just Dance on the Wii! He's always doing things to make them laugh and they just think he's the funniest thing since Ray Stevens.
He has a huge heart and he genuinely loves and cares for people. He loves his hospice patients and is always looking for ways to help them in whether it be financially, spiritually or emotionally.
And he loves me. He never gets tired of my crazy whims ("Honey we're going to Williamsburg for a few days next week"...."I'm thinking about remodeling the schoolroom...again"..."I think I want to homeschool the girls"). He is supportive of my crazy ideas. He doesn't complain when he gets home at 5:30 and the house is a mess, science projects are underway in the kitchen, laundry is all over the couch and dinner still hasn't been started. He helps me teach our girls about Jesus and history and poetry. He takes days off and goes to the beach with us. He buys me flowers just because. He says he doesn't care if I want to spend three hours at the gym...and I know he means it.
I was blessed beyond measure with such a great husband. Thank you for being a great Daddy and a great husband. And I too think you are the bees knees!
