Tangible Benefits of Getting Healthy

As I mentioned in my last post, getting healthy is my ultimate goal.  But there are a few benefits that I'm already reaping and some that I am really excited about as I continue on my weight loss journey.

1.  I'm two sizes smaller.  I have jeans I haven't worn in 4 years that fit again.  My underwear are all sagging on me.  If I wear a pair and I spend all day tugging them back up...then they go in the trash when I take them off that night.  Pretty soon I'm going to have to buy some new ones and I'm looking forward to wearing some Victoria's Secret instead of Hanes Her Way.  I wore a sleeveless top yesterday IN PUBLIC and didn't feel too terribly self conscious in it.  Things that were tight are now loose and all my too big clothes have been packed in a box for Goodwill.

2.  My back pain is almost non-existent.  I've had back pain off and on for years (since my pregnancy with a 9 pound 6 ounce frank breech baby in 2002).  Back in December it was really getting bad.  I'd go to bed at night sore and I'd wake up sore.  Some days I looked like a little old lady hobbling out of bed in the morning.  Most days required Ibuprofen to get through.

I realized the other day that I have not taken any Ibuprofen for my back in over two months.  Now if I go to bed sore, it's because I worked out hard that day.  Getting up out of bed has gotten easier and I don't wake up sore anymore.

3.  I want to play with my kids.  I want to go for bike rides.  I want to do activities with them.  I want to play at the park.

4.  Shopping is becoming enjoyable again.  I am at a size now where I am not confined to the "pretty plus" section.  I'm looking forward to the day that I can walk into Talbot's or Anne Taylor Loft and buy a cute little black dress in a size 10!

5.  I'm not depressed anymore.  I had actually bought some St John's Wort to try back in January but decided to give clean eating and healthy living a try first.  I haven't needed the SJW.  And I've been pretty happy lately.

I've already seen what a difference just 25 pounds can make.  I am really excited to see the difference that 40 pounds makes...and 50 pounds...and maybe 60 pounds.
