EC Week: Wednesday's Splurge

Okay, so today I'll keep it real.  I still have days when I don't eat clean.  But rather than letting one day turn into a week, and then a month, and then a year, and then a lifetime, I now can splurge a little and then pick back up on my clean eating the next day.

I've been on this weight loss journey since January and I have never felt "deprived".  I allow myself some things that I like on occasion but I try to stay within my alloted calories for the day and I try to make up for it with exercise.

So without further ado....here are my meals for today {{I'm cringing already}}:

Breakfast
I didn't feel like eating this morning.  I woke up dizzy and just feeling blah.  Plus we were all in a hurry to get out the house to my mom's to pick her up and take her out for lunch.  So I didn't eat.  Then I got to mom's house and had an Oreo.  Yes, really.  I ate one lone Oreo for breakfast.

Snack
I kept feeling dizzy (no I am NOT pregnant!) and figured I needed to eat a little something so I ate 3 Ritz crackers and drank some water.

Lunch
Here's the big splurge for the day.  We went to Bill's Hot Dogs for lunch.  Bill's should be a historical site in Eastern North Carolina.  If you live here then no doubt at some point in your life you've had a Bill's hot dog.  And there is one thing that rings true about Bill's--you either love them or you hate them.  I fall into the first category, my husband the latter!  Bill's only has one things thing on their menu--hot dogs.  They used to be 65 cents each but with inflation they are now almost a dollar a piece.  Still a cheap lunch (the 3 girls and my mom and I all ate lunch for $13).

These are the only hot dogs I really like to eat.  So for lunch I had two Bill's hot dogs, no onions (which means mustard and their secret homemade spicy white chili).  And I had a Dr. Pepper.  I'm pretty sure a hot dog is about the most unclean thing that you could possibly eat.  But it sure was good!
We enjoyed our hot dogs while sitting at the beautiful Washington, NC waterfront (this is a tradition--my mom and I have been doing this since I was little!).  Layla loved watching the boats and Madalyn enjoyed picking dandelions and throwing them in the water!  It was a gorgeous day today!

Supper
After returning to mom and dad's we had a little family get together to celebrate my dad's birthday.  He likes barbecue chicken (think NC barbeque--vinegar based) so we picked up some chicken and sides from a local restaurant.  I tried to pick the healthiest sides available (and I just pretend that the corn was not cooked with butter).  And I stuck with unsweet tea to drink.

I ate half that piece of grilled chicken, two hushpuppies, some corn, some green beans and a little dab of macaroni and cheese.  And I did have one very small piece of birthday cake (because it was homemade by my sister-in-law and she makes the best cakes!).

My calorie count ended up being a little over 1900 calories for the day (I aim for around 1400 each day.)  And thanks to my BodyBugg I know that I burned about 3500 today so I still had a calorie deficit of 1600 calories.  Although I didn't eat clean today I did control my portions and I came home and did my workout even though it was after 11pm!

So that was my total clean eating big "blow it" day.  Back to it tomorrow!
